Biking never cleared my head. When I was biking, I was 1000% engaged in biking. Potholes. Uneven pavement. Car doors. How my legs felt.
I found my best ideas came from walking, or while sitting still. When my brain was able to focus on the horizon (and not getting hit by cars) I was better able to develop plans for the future.
Better ideas don’t come from more meetings in conference rooms. Better ideas don’t come when you’re handling 100 emails by noon. Better stuff doesn’t get made when you throw more hours at the issue.
Getting quiet, finding some peace… that’s when good ideas come. It’s tough, since we’re all taught to work hard, buckle down and get things done. But I swear, when you can catch your breath and let go of things, that’s when the best stuff happens.
